Why/How: Deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team are investigating a vehicle versus a motorcycle crash that left one man with serious injuries.
According to investigators, 55 year-old Jeffrey Shore was driving his 2007 Dodge Ram east on S.R. 580, attempting to make a northbound left turn onto Heather Ridge Boulevard. Traffic in the two westbound lanes of S.R. 580 slowed to allow Shore to make the left turn.
At about that same time, 34-year-old Gabriel Dalrymple was driving a 1993 Harley Davidson motorcycle westbound on S.R. 580 in the curb lane approaching Heather Ridge Boulevard when Shore’s truck turned in front of Dalrymple’s motorcycle. Dalrymple’s Harley Davidson crashed into the passenger side of Shore’s Dodge truck and Dalrymple was ejected off the motorcycle.
Investigators say Dalrymple was flown to St. Joseph’s Hospital for life threatening injuries. Shore refused medical treatment at the scene.
Dalrymple was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Investigators don’t believe impairment nor speed were factors in the crash.
Shore was issued a citation for failure to yield to oncoming traffic.
The investigation continues.
