What: Detectives assigned to the Crimes Against Children Unit are investigating the death of a 7-month-old in St. Pete Beach.
When: The child was found unresponsive at about 6 a.m. on Saturday, December 31, 2016.
The child was pronounced deceased at about 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 31, 2016.
Where: The incident occurred at a residence located at 6795 Gulf Winds Drive, Apartment 2, in St. Pete Beach.
Why/How: Detectives assigned to the Crimes Against Children Unit are investigating the death of, 7-month-old Mayson Wirth, in St. Pete Beach.
According to detectives, Mayson’s mother, 41-year-old Michelle Wirth, placed Mayson in his bed at about 10 p.m. on Friday, December 30, 2016. Michelle woke Mayson up at about 2 a.m. on Saturday, December 31, 2016, to administer an Albuterol breathing treatment and placed him back in his bed.
Detectives say Michelle went to wake Mayson for another breathing treatment at about 6 a.m. the same morning, when she found Mayson in his bed unresponsive and not breathing.
Michelle called 911 and paramedics arrived shortly thereafter.
Mayson was transported to All Children’s Hospital. Mayson died at the hospital at about 1:30 p.m...
Detectives say that Mayson had no obvious signs of injury or trauma.
Mayson was treated for a respiratory issue at All Children’s Hospital on December 29, 2016.
The investigation continues.
