When: The crash occurred at about 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 7, 2016.
Where: The crash occurred in the northbound curb lane of Tampa Road, just north of the Curlew Road intersection.
Why/How: According to investigators, Deputy Peter Lamborghini was called to investigate a crash involving three vehicles on Tampa Road, just north of the Curlew Road intersection.
Deputy Lamborghini arrived on scene and activated his emergency lights, before parking his marked 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe in the northbound curb lane of Tampa Road, to shield the vehicles in the crash from oncoming traffic.
Investigators say that Deputy Lamborghini was out of his cruiser investigating the crash when a 2013 Nissan Altima traveling north on Tampa Road, crashed into the rear of Deputy Lamborghini’s cruiser. The impact from the Nissan Altima pushed Deputy Lamborghini’s cruiser forward into a 1986 Porsche 944, and then into a 2012 Mazda 6. Both unoccupied vehicles were involved in the original crash.
The driver of the 2013 Nissan Altima was identified as 45-year-old Rebecca Adams. Adams showed signs of impairment and a breath sample indicated she had a BAC of .169/.172.
Adams was arrested and charged with one count of Driving Under the Influence. She was transported to the Pinellas County Jail without incident.
No one was injured as a result of the crash.
The investigation continues.
