What: Deputies have released the results of the overnight countywide DUI Wolf Pack. When: Pinellas County deputies along with various local law enforcement agencies conducted the county-wide DUI Wolf Pack from Friday, July 1, 2016 through Saturday, July 2, 2016.
Where: The DUI Wolf Pack was conducted throughout Pinellas County.
Why/How: In an effort to reduce DUI related injuries and deaths, Pinellas County in conjunction with multiple Pinellas County Police agencies conducted a DUI Wolf Pack operation in Pinellas County overnight.
The results are as follows:
Criminal Charges: 13 DUI 4 Possession of a Controlled Substance (Misdemeanor) 7 Possession of a Controlled Substance (Felony) 1 Possession Drug Paraphernalia 4 Fleeing and Eluding (Motorcycle) 5 Misdemeanor Driving While License Suspended and/or revoked with Knowledge 2 DWLS/R (Felony) 2 Felony Burglary/Battery 1 Leaving Scene of a Crash with Injury (Felony) 1 Obstruction of Justice Total Charges - 40
Citations: 12 Driving while License Suspended or Revoked with Knowledge 24 Speeding 61 Citations for other moving and non-moving violations Total Citations - 97
The operation was part of the Sheriff's Office on-going commitment to reduce deaths, injuries, and property damage associated with traffic crashes related to impaired driving. The goal of a Wolf Pack is to educate drivers and create public awareness about the dangers of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and any chemical or controlled substances.
The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office will be conducting DUI Wolf Packs continuously throughout the year.
