What: Deputies assigned to the Judicial Operations Bureau have released the results of Operation Safe Surrender. The results are as follows: -67 warrants mitigated for 57 defendants -$2,315 collected in fines and fees
When: The Operation was held from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2015. Where: The Operation was held at the Suncoast Safety Council located at 455 31st Street North in St. Petersburg.
Why/How: In an ongoing effort to reduce the number of outstanding warrants, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office Judicial Operations Bureau along with the Suncoast Safety Council, the State Attorney's Office, Public Defender's Office, Sixth Judicial Circuit Judges and Clerk of the Court held Operation Safe Surrender.
The operation afforded individuals with outstanding misdemeanor warrants a one day opportunity resolve their warrants in lieu of physical arrest and potential incarceration.
Circuit Court Judge H. Andringa mitigated 67 warrants for 57 defendants. The Clerk of the Court collected $2,315 in fines and fees, and made future payment arrangements with five defendants.
