What: Deputies have released the results of the overnight joint DUI Wolf Pack.
When: Pinellas County deputies along with various other local law enforcement agencies conducted the DUI Wolf Pack from 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 19, 2014 until 5:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2014.
Where: Deputies monitored traffic throughout Pinellas County.
Why/How: In an effort to reduce DUI related injuries and deaths, Pinellas County deputies along with several other law enforcement agencies conducted a DUI Wolf Pack operation in Pinellas County overnight.
The results are as follows:
Criminal charges: 16 DUI’s 9 Driving While License Suspended or Revoked with knowledge 2 No valid driver’s license 3 Possession of controlled substances 3 Felony Violation of Probation 1 Grand Theft
Citations: 23 Driving While License Suspended or Revoked with knowledge citations 32 Speeding citations 2 Seatbelt citations 105 Citations for other moving and non-moving violations The operation was part of the Sheriff's Office on-going commitment to reduce deaths, injuries, and property damage associated with traffic crashes related to impaired driving. The goal of a Wolf Pack is to educate drivers and create public awareness about the dangers of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and any chemical or controlled substances.
The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office received funding for the Pinellas Proactive DUI Enforcement Program from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Traffic Safety grant.
The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office will be conducting DUI Wolf Packs and DUI Checkpoints continuously throughout the year.
