16-207 M.A.I.T. Investigates Fatal Motorcycle Versus Vehicle Crash In Gulfport
Armaletha M. Wesley was operating her 2015 Leike motorcycle southbound in the median lane on 49th Street South when 51-year-old Ronald Hillman driving his 2006 Chevrolet TrailBlazer was going eastbound on Jersey Avenue South and made a northbound turn onto 49th Street pulling out in front of the motorcyclist.

Deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team are investigating a fatal motorcycle versus vehicle crash.
When:
The crash occurred at about 8:15 p.m. on Thursday, September 29, 2016.
Where:
The crash occurred at the intersection of 49th Street South and Jersey Avenue in Gulfport.
Why/How:
According to investigators, at approximately 8:15 p.m. on Thursday, September 29, 2016, 24-year-old Armaletha M. Wesley was operating her 2015 Leike motorcycle southbound on 49th Street South in the center lane approaching Jersey Avenue. 51-year-old Ronald Hillman was driving his 2006 Chevrolet TrailBlazer on Jersey Avenue North when the motorcycle and vehicle collided on Jersey Avenue North.
Investigators say that Wesley was not wearing a helmet. She died while en-route to the local hospital from her injuries. Hillman was not injured as a result of the crash.
Investigators say speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash.
The next-of-kin of the deceased has been notified.
The investigation continues.
